The members of the Schubring branch of my family arrived in the United States between the 1860s and 1882 from the Prussian province of Pomerania. The four branches of the family came from Kreis Neustettin (Schubring), Kreis Regenwalde (Pagel), Kreis Schlawe (Schmidt) and Kreis Naugard (Mau). All of these families came directly to Marathon County, Wisconsin upon arriving in the United States. The Schubring and Pagel families settled in the Town of Wausau and the Schmidt and Mau families settled in the City of Wausau.
